Poem of the Week S01 E32 : In memory of Rory Gallagher, written and read by Dermot Bolger.

One of the few Poem of the Week episodes recorded outside the studio, as Dermot was kind enough to grant me entry to his kitchen in pursuit of good radio! A chilly afternoon in February had my peddling my way down to Drumcondra to pay tribute to one of Irish music’s greats. Dermot was of an age that he was on the ground when Rory’s career was at its height. With his inimicable wit and his poet’s sense of the presence of others, listen back to tales of the Irish music scene in the 60s and 70s, rock fuelled nostalgia and the happy and sad memories of Rory.
